Arlington, VA

  1. I know it's redundant, but I drove THE RIDE thru some of the most beautiful countryside today. Rolling, narrow, two lane roads with cornfields as far as I could see. I consistently keep seeing these large, 5 pointed stars on the front of houses and barns in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia. Any ideas? I've gotten a variety of answers, but I'll let you figure it out..

We arrived in DC after noon today. The guys continue to amaze me with their spirit and enthusiasm. I think the fact that they have actually ridden bicycles all the way across the United States is sinking in. They are such a positive example for so many people.

Got to visit the US Marine Corp War Memorial today. Let me tell you that it is huge! There were so many proud veterans there.

I learned that you don't want to make a wrong turn in this town driving THE RIDE with a trailer around 9/11. It attracts too much unwanted attention from Security Personnel. Don't know what gate it was, but "yes sir", I do have ID and I will open up all the compartments for inspection. Just doing their job and I am glad they are.

We had the opportunity to meet and greet at an Arlington Fire Station (photo above). This Fire Station was the first one to respond to the Pentagon Incident on 9/11. Thanks Lt Karl.

Tomorrow, we move on to Elkton, Maryland after stops at the Pentagon and Arlington Cemetery.

July 24th was our day of departure from Hollywood CA and it seems so long ago. All of a sudden, NYC is in our sights and it won't be long!
